No credit check loans: what the phrase means, and what we do instead
One of the most searched phrases in lending, and one of the most misleading. Here is the difference between a soft and a hard inquiry, who really lends without checking, and what that costs.

The honest answer in one paragraph
We do not offer no credit check loans, and we would be wary of anyone who does. What we offer is a rate check that uses a soft credit inquiry, which does not affect your score and is visible only to you. A hard inquiry happens only if you accept an offer. For most people searching this phrase, that is what they actually wanted.
Soft inquiry and hard inquiry, plainly
These two words do all the work in this topic, and most confusion comes from lenders using them loosely.
Soft inquiry
- Used when you check your rate here.
- No effect on your credit score whatsoever.
- Visible only to you, not to other lenders.
- Can be done as often as you like.
Hard inquiry
- Used only after you accept an offer and move to verification.
- Recorded on your file and may lower your score slightly.
- Visible to other lenders for about two years.
- We tell you before it happens, every time.
Who genuinely lends without any credit check
These lenders exist. It is worth understanding what they charge for skipping the check before you go looking for them.
Payday lenders
Often skip the credit check and frequently price above 300% APR, with the full balance due on your next payday. Built around rollovers, which is how a two-week problem becomes a two-year one.
Car title lenders
Skip the credit check because the loan is secured on your vehicle. If you fall behind, you can lose the car you need to get to work, which turns a cash shortage into a job problem.
Pawn shops
No check because they hold your property. Genuinely no risk to your credit file, but you lose the item if you cannot redeem it, and the amount offered is a fraction of its value.
The pattern is consistent: a lender that checks nothing about your ability to repay covers that risk by charging far more, or by taking something of yours as security. Skipping the check is not a favour to the borrower.
What we check, and why it helps you
The check is not a hurdle placed in front of the money. It is how a payment schedule gets built that you can actually meet.
- Your credit file, to understand your history rather than to score you out.
- Your income, so the payment is sized against money that actually arrives.
- Your recent banking activity, so the debit date lands after payday rather than before it.
- Your existing commitments, so the new payment fits alongside them.
Guaranteed approval does not exist
We decline applications every day. Any lender promising guaranteed approval is either not lending or not being straight with you, and anyone who guarantees approval then asks for an upfront fee to release funds is running a scam. Report that through our complaints page.
Common questions
Does MDG offer no credit check loans?
No. We check your credit, but checking your rate uses a soft inquiry that does not affect your score. A hard inquiry is made only after you accept an offer, and we tell you before it happens.
Will checking my rate show up on my credit report?
A soft inquiry is visible only to you and is not shown to other lenders. It has no effect on your score.
Who actually offers no credit check loans?
Mainly payday lenders, car title lenders and pawn shops. Each covers the missing check either by charging far more, commonly above 300% APR, or by taking your vehicle or property as security.
Can I get approved with bad credit instead?
Often, yes. We publish no minimum credit score and approve applicants in the mid-500s regularly when income is verifiable and recent banking activity is clean.
Is a soft credit check a real check?
Yes. It returns real information about your credit file. The difference is only in how it is recorded and who can see it.
Why do lenders advertise no credit check at all?
Because it is one of the most searched phrases in lending. Read any such advert carefully: it often means no affordability check either, which usually means a much higher price.
